FAQs

Is teletherapy an option? Due to the current coronavirus epidemic, all sessions are currently taking place virtually through the internet platform Zoom.  When you schedule an appointment, I will send a link for you to join me on your computer or phone. You will be asked to download the free Zoom app, which is easy to do and only takes a second!

Can we connect before deciding to begin therapy? I always offer a 30-min consultation at no cost so that potential clients are able to meet me, ask questions, and decide whether we are a good match.

How much does therapy cost? Depending on severity and persistence of symptoms, client and therapist schedules, and other mitigating factors, you may choose to attend between 12 and 50 psychotherapy sessions of 50 minutes each in one year. At $150/session, the estimated total costs are between $1800 and $7,500. This estimate is not a contract and does not create an obligation to receive services. Each session fee of $150/50 min will be charged to your credit card following the session.

What if I need to cancel my appointment? More than 24 hours in advance, you may reschedule/cancel a consult or session at no charge. If you cancel or make a reschedule request less than 24 hours before your session, there will be a cancellation fee of $50. I understand that sometimes things come up. For illness or a family emergency, the cancellation fee will be waived.

How often should I come? Most clients schedule appointments weekly or bi-weekly for one hour. Two-hour sessions are also available for those who prefer a longer format.

Should I tell others that I’m seeing a therapist? Totally your call. Seeing a therapist means choosing to have a series of  conversations about your inner life with someone who appreciates the importance of what happens there. There isn’t anyone on the planet who wouldn’t benefit from such a conversation. Caring for your mind through therapy is the same as caring for your body at the gym. It supports health and well-being.

Do you take my insurance? At this point, I am no longer able to accept clients under in-network insurance. If you have a flex account through your workplace or are covered by insurance and have out-of-network benefits for mental health care, you would 1) pay in full, and then 2) submit your Therapy with Stana receipt to your health care provider to receive retroactive reimbursement.

What is the duration of therapy? Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all measurement. Change happens by coming to understand things differently and implementing new ideas. The time required for this process to unfold with each person varies. We typically meet more often in the beginning of therapy, and less frequently as issues begin to resolve and become more manageable.
